WASH Initiative

Water is essential.

Access is dignity.

The WASH programme is working to ensure households across Grenada have access to clean running water and proper sanitation by 2027.

Project Overview

Closing the gap on water and sanitation.

The Water Access and Sanitation in Homes (WASH) program is the first community initiative of Nation Builders. It was created to address persistent gaps in household water access and sanitation by helping families gain access to indoor running water, bathrooms, and essential sanitary fixtures.

The programme aims to improve quality of life, protect public health, and strengthen living conditions in communities across Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique.

Ensure all homes have access to indoor running water

Provide adequate and equitable sanitation systems

End pit latrine use and open defecation

Improve social comfort and environmental conditions

Context

Although 98% of the population has access to water, many homes still rely on outside bathroom facilities, pit latrines, standpipes, or public bathroom facilities. WASH was designed to close that gap.

Why It Matters

A foundation for health and dignity.

Water and sanitation are fundamental to health, dignity, housing quality, and overall well-being. WASH directly addresses living standards while contributing to broader social and environmental outcomes.
